Our customers often come with an idea or sometimes simply a requirement. As in the case of the BroadSword program, our customer, the U.S. Army Targets Management Office, approached us with the need for a UAV target of certain size and performance. From these general requirements, we developed a new aircraft including production tooling, avionics, launch systems, and supporting O&M manuals. BroadSword represents what we do best, identifying the most efficient path to our customer’s goal. That does not mean the R&D path is without bumps in the road; everyone who develops new hardware understands the need to discover the things you don’t know. But our experience with air vehicles significantly reduces development risks simply because most of the time we’ve been there and done something like it. Our R&D tasks range from conceptualizing a new airframe configuration optimized for simplified launch and recovery operations to assisting a major aerospace company solve problems on the first composite liquid hydrogen rocket fuel tank. Although sometimes we may not have a specialized in-house capability (detailed RCS signature analysis for example) we have many contacts in the aerospace industry who provide outstanding subcontract support. We are resourceful, innovative, creative, and experienced. We’re confident we can contribute to your program.
