Madison, AL, April 10, 2007 -- Griffon Aerospace, the developer of the BroadSword MQM-171A, successfully flew the unmanned UAV target for over 2 hrs on the U.S. Army's Redstone Arsenal on April 5, 2007. An extensive series of time-to-climb, cooling, and performance tests were performed to collect data for maturing the system. This flight series is part of the spiral development flight test series leading to deployment of the system for the U.S. Army's Target Management Office (TMO). The program involves development of a new aircraft, avionics, and launcher system including ground support equipment. The most recent successful flight tests were a key element of moving to autonomous flight in the near future. This step was a critical milestone towards an intended production decision for the aircraft.
